African Wildlife Foundation

The African Wildlife Foundation works to protect not only the animals of Africa but the land and people as well. They promote and facilitate working in harmony so that everyone can leave safely and peacefully together on the same land.

Founded in 1961 to focus strictly on Africa's conservation needs, they now have dozens of projects established from protection of rhinos, tigers, and zebras to avocado farming and local schooling of children. Because they are able to provide education and implement new policies, animals are able to live in peace with the local communities.

Due to the steady decrease of the lion population, we at Saved Kisses chose to focus on their Ruaha Carnivore Project . This project aims to conserve and protect lions from mass killing by building fences and structures around communities' livestock where lions like to hunt for prey.
